Mount Ogden is located in the Wasatch Range in northern Utah. The peak is the highest point in Weber County and the most prominent peak in the Ogden area. Mount Ogden has a long and complex history.

History

The first recorded ascent of the peak was in 1847 by John C. Fremont, during his famous expedition to California. The mountain was named for Peter Skene Ogden, a Canadian explorer who was the first European to see the Great Salt Lake.

Mount Ogden was used as a lookout point by early settlers and was a popular destination for picnics and hiking. In the early 1900s, a road was built to the summit, making it accessible by car.

Today, Mount Ogden is a popular recreation spot. The mountain has several hiking trails, as well as a ski resort.

The Mount Ogden Ski Resort

The Mount Ogden Ski Resort is located on the north slope of the mountain. The resort has 27 trails and four chairlifts. The summit of Mount Ogden is accessible by the lift, and from there, skiers can enjoy views of the surrounding area.

In the summer, the ski resort is open for mountain biking and hiking. The Mount Ogden Bike Park has 20 trails for all levels of mountain bikers.

Hiking Trails

There are several hiking trails on Mount Ogden, ranging in difficulty from easy to strenuous.

The Summit Trail is the most popular trail on the mountain. It is a 3.5-mile round trip hike that begins at the Mount Ogden Ski Resort. The trail winds through forests and meadows before reaching the summit of the mountain, where hikers are rewarded with stunning views.
